Suit(s) Hanging Up
One of the very first Groom Getting Ready Photos that I grab when walking into the suite is the Suit or Tux all hung up. Every venue is unique so we try to set the suit up in the surroundings provided to us to include them in these photos. The groom getting ready photos captured here of the groom and groomsmen’s suits were taken just outside of the grooms getting ready suite on a wall dividing the bar from the rest of the resort. Hanging the suit in the scene really helps to tie all the elements of the day together right from the beginning.

Those Sentimental Details
Next up for Groom Getting Ready Photos are all of those sentimental details that are so important to your day. I send every groom an email with a list attached of items that I want him to bring with him so I can set the stage and create an interesting photo. I like to include the ring in it’s box, your tie, watch, shoes, cologne, or any other items that mean something special to you. For the detail shots I also like to use the surrounding area and include the feel of it in your photos. After all, you chose this location for a reason. In the photo here I set the details up on a hidden speak easy bar in an old prohibition age mansion.

Those Sharp Shoes
Most of our grooms aren’t keen on new pairs of shoes and many only have one or two pairs. So, we know that those shiny new shoes are going to make you look really dapper. I like to set the shoes up with other wedding details such as cuff links, bow tie, or your wedding ring. It’s also really important to me that I choose scenery from your suite for these groom getting ready photos. The wedding shot here is from a wedding on a farm and both the bride and groom wore cowboy boots. The groom got ready at his best man’s house and there was this neat handmade wooden bench so I included it in his detail shots.

Will She Put a Ring on It?
Confused? I know you are. LOL I just thought it was funny. But seriously, my second shooter is outstanding at taking groom getting ready photos of the rings and all the other details. He’ll take that shiny little promise and make it look amazing for you. Once again, just like with all the other detail shots, we’re going to use your surroundings to tell the whole story of your wedding preparations.

The Cuff Links
The cuff links are a power piece as far as I’m concerned. They’re a window into a bygone era that I wish was still around with men in fedora’s tipping their hats at you. Not many groom’s wear cuff links any more, but if you do I’ll be sure to take pictures of them with your details as well as a few sweet groom portraits of you putting them on. Groom Getting Ready Photos should always focus on the little things like this.

The Glamorous Gifts
Gifts, gifts, gifts, gifts galore! Gifts come in all shapes and sizes. Many of our groom’s choose to honor their groomsmen by gifting them something special on the day of the wedding. We’ll do your gifts in two stages. First, we’ll set them up and do a detail shot or two and then when you present them to your guys we’ll take some candid (in the moment) photos of them opening those wonderful little presents. If your giving gifts to your groomsmen make sure to let your photographer know so they can include it on the list of groom getting ready photos for you.

The Guys Helping You Get Ready
Now we shift our focus a bit from the items…or details that make your day special to the people that make it special. Most groom’s have their groomsmen, the ring bearer, and both dads at present for their groom getting ready photos. One of the major ways they’re there for you is to help you get ready. After you clumsily put on the tie (why are your hands a little shaky today?) they’ll be there to straighten and make you look like a million bucks. And there we are in stealth mode to capture those candids.

Putting on the Boutonniere
Capturing the moment when the groom gets his boutonniere on is a crucial part of the getting ready photos for any wedding. It’s a scene filled with anticipation, nerves, and often a touch of humor as his best man or mom steps in to pin it on just right. This moment symbolizes the transition from single life to married life, and it’s an emotional prelude to the ceremony.
When we freeze this fleeting instant in time, we not only capture a significant part of the wedding day but also immortalize the bond between the groom and those closest to him. The exchange of smiles, shared jokes, or even nervous jitters are all perfectly encapsulated. The intensity of these emotions makes these groom getting ready photos both intimate and poignant, giving it timeless appeal.
The Reflection Shot
One of the most captivating moments in a wedding day is when the groom takes that final look at himself in the mirror before heading to the altar. The reflection captured in these groom getting ready photos often reveals a mix of excitement, nerves, and anticipation, all subtly intertwined in his expression. It’s a moment frozen in time that encapsulates the essence of the groom’s emotions as he prepares to embark on one of life’s most significant journeys.

The Gorgeous Groomsmen
The energy in the room is electric as the groom and his groomsmen gather for a photo before the big moment. Each man looks dapper in his suit, exuding confidence and camaraderie.
These groom getting ready photos capture not only a moment of preparation but also a snapshot of deep friendship and support. The expressions on the faces of the groom and his crew reveal a mix of excitement, nerves, and pure joy. As they share laughs and final words of encouragement, it’s clear that these guys are more than just attendees – they’re an integral part of this special day.

Toasting Before the Toast
One of the last groom getting ready photos that we capture is the final send off toast. The groom and his most trusted family & friends will toast in excitement as he takes those last few moments to reflect on the next chapter in his epic adventure. We gather all the guys together to enjoy a last drink before sending the groomsmen out of the room for our next set of images.
The Groom’s Portraits
Last but not least of the groom getting ready photos are those poignant and often dramatic groom’s portraits. Excitement and anticipation fill the air like electricity as we pose our handsome groom for some solo shots before he walks down the aisle. I like to do a few power shots with our groom. Moody lighting, a dimly lit scene with our proud groom popping out with his head held high. This is the day he’s been preparing for since he first popped the question. The thought of his beautiful bride walking down the alter is all he can focus on.
